Originally from the UK, Rich has an extensive resume working in coaching environments from grassroots to elite performers. Coaching is a real passion and has led him to draw upon a variety of coaching roles and experiences in the UK, Australia, Fiji and New Zealand. Currently working at Kinross Wolaroi School, his previous roles have included working with England Rugby as a coach and coach educator, as a coach with the England Women’s rugby performance pathway and as a lecturer in sports coaching.
Rich’s passion for coaching began as a teenager initially coaching his school team before moving on to obtain a 1st Class Honours degree in Sports Management. Whilst at university positions with London Wasps and Harlequins Rugby fostered a passion for coaching children in the community and talent development spaces.
Since then his career has led him in many directions, and encountered many challenges and successes. Rich has been fortunate to have worked with, and been mentored by, some incredible coaches and educators. These formative years illustrated the need for quality coach education, mentoring and high quality learning experiences for sports coaches. Such a variety of experiences have forged a real desire to continue growing as a coach but to also continue to support other coaches along their journey.
In 2016 Rich left the UK to travel and to continue his own coach education. This journey has led him to working as the Director of Rugby at Kinross Wolaroi School, working with Otago Rugby in New Zealand and even living and teaching in a remote Fijian village. In addition to his professional roles Rich is still heavily involved in grassroots and voluntary sport. This collection of coaching experiences has shaped an athlete-centred coaching philosophy that he is excited about sharing with other coaches.
Rich is keen to get out and meet and work with coaches from many different sports to help mentor them on their journey. To start your conversation with Rich and to see how he could support you or your organisation book in your free initial consultation now.
